notes:

George is buried near Itasca State Park in Minnesota. 
A flag flies over his gravesite, as he served as a volunteer in the Civil War. 
He was in the Wisconsin Infantry, and was discharged in 1865 at Nashville, Wisconsin. 

47th Wisconsin Infantry - Union; 
47th Regiment organized at Madison, WI, and mustered on 27 Feb 1865. 
He was ordered to Louisville, KY then to Nashville, TN and Tullahoma, TN - 
attached to the 2nd Brigade Defenses, Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad, 
Department of the Cumberland, to April 1865. 
Second Brigade, 1st Sub-District, District Middle Tennessee, 
Department of Cumberland to Sep 1865. 
Railroad guard duty at Tullahoma and in District of Middle until September. 
Mustered out 04 Sep 1865.
