Miscellaneous Information |
1) Gustav emigrated from Germany to the United States in
1894, and was naturalized in PA. According to the 1910 census, he could speak English. 2)
I have a copy of the Homestead Certificate Gustav Rosenau received from
the government. It is dated 08 April, 1904. It is for 160
acres of land with the description of: SE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of S 1/2 of SE 1/4
and NW 1/4 of SE of section 33, township 159, range 76 west. I have a
copy of the Willow Creek Township plat
map in Bottineau County, ND. It shows where Gustav's land
was located.
3) On 09 May 1908, Gustav was appointed guardian of three of Eleonore's children
(Bernhard, Erick and Herman) from her first marriage to Edward Biberdorf.
4) I have copies of five documents and letters that refer to the crops
Gustav raised on the land that was willed to his step-children (Bernhard,
Erick and Herman) by their father, Edward Biberdorf. Gustav was
guardian for those children, and the money from the crops that were raised
on that land had to be documented and given to the children. The letters are dated from December 1908 to October 1914.
5) I have a copy of Gustav's
obituary; cause of death: apoplexy. Informant at time of death was Paul
Kretschmar (Gustav's son-in-law). Funeral director: C V Hopper,
Bottineau, ND.
